Upcoming Group Swims - September 2009

There are a few upcoming open water group swims for anyone looking to get in the water before the weather starts to cool down.

Gordon Gridley is planning a 10 mile swim at Pineview Reservoir on Monday September 7 (Labor Day). Please visit his blog for more information or to let him know that you are interested. If you aren't up for the full 10 miles, he would probably like to have you along for whatever distance you choose to do.

East Canyon
I am planning on going up to East Canyon Reservoir on Saturday September 12 around 9:00am. I would like to swim around 4-6 miles, but if you want to come and swim more or less your are welcome. I am looking at swimming in the inlet on the south side of the reservoir and I think you can just park on the side of the road and walk down to the water. The water is supposed to be between 60 and 65 degrees.

Bountiful Lake
Wednesday mornings at 6:30 am. We generally swim 1 to 4 laps, which is about 1.1 to 4.4 miles.

If you have any questions or know of any other group swims, feel free to email me at joshuakgreen@gmail.com or leave a comment on this post.

If you do East Canyon in the afternoon I can go, but if you go in the morning, I'll have to miss this one. What time are you thinking?

I can go in the afternoon. I just remembered that there is a little pool tri that morning that I might be doing with my dad. I should be open all afternoon, what time works best for you?

I would be interested in East Canyon also, I've got to try out the new wetsuit with in the 30 days and going out of town this weekend. Gord, still got my cell phone number?

Hey Craig,

I think we will probably go to East Canyon in the afternoon of the 12th instead of the morning. I will let you know when we get something more specific figured out.

What kind of wetsuit did you get? I just recently got a Zoot Flash and have worn it two or three times. The neck has been bothering me and I keep getting chaffed on the back of my neck no matter how much body glide I put on.

I got an xterra vortex 3. Like I said, I have not tried it out. I rented a zoot for the Deer Creek open water. Then found out they were having a great sale on these. I did not have an issue with the zoot. the neck on the xterra is a little higher and a little tighter, so we will see. I think gordon has my number or just contact me thru facebook.

It looks like this Saturday morning is going to work better for me. I'm planning on being up there around 9:00am. Hopefully you can make it and test out your new wetsuit.
