From the SummerFest website:
We want to break a GUINNESS WORLD RECORD ™ and hope that you will be able to help us! During Orem Summerfest on June 11 and 12, we will be attempting to break the 24 hour swimming relay record! What does that mean? Well, we want to get the most participants to swim one length of a pool in a 24 hour period. The current record is 3,941 people and was set on
January 23-24, 2009in . Tshwane, South Africa
In order to do this, we need to have a swimmer complete one length in an average of 20 seconds. That's pretty fast! We need to recruit over 4,000 confident swimmers who have always dreamt of breaking a world record and seeing their efforts recognized in one of the most read books in the world!
It sounds simple, but we need your help. Getting that many good swimmers willing to participate and show up when expected is going to be tough. If you want to help us do this, we need you to sign up…and get your friends to sign up!
We hope you will be able to help us. We need a lot of people!
