Goody coming into the marina. |
We had a great turnout today! There were five of us to begin with (Goody, Jim, Chad, Etsuko and myself), which is already pretty good, and then two more guys showed up as we were getting into the water.
I just did laps between the two buoys just outside the marina. I wanted to keep an eye on Etsuko, who is new to open water and the Great Salt Lake. She did a great job and seemed to be having a lot of fun and is planning on coming back next week.
The water temperature in the marina was 58 degrees, but there were pockets of both colder and warmer water outside of the marina. I got out after about 30 minutes and took a "shower" at the water hose.
Here is the link to the data from my Hydro Tracker.

I plan on joining you guys at GSL at least once or twice before the GSL swim. Save a safe swimmer for me, because I'll buy one next time I see you. I'm gonna have to talk to Goody and find out when he thinks it's best to start swimming up at Pineview. Probably too dang cold right now...
Awesome! Goody and Gordon have been swimming a few times at the Antelope Island Marina in the afternoons. I'm not sure what the water temp is at Pineview because it's not a Utah State Park and is not listed on their website. The Safer Swimmers should be getting her any day and I'll save one out for you.
Which one would you recommend? I don't think I'd need to store a ton of stuff in it. But for only five bucks more it seems like much more space. I want one mostly for the obvious ... the safety. Especially after the woman was killed in Pineview last summer. Do you feel any difference in drag between the two sizes?
They just came today and I've got both sizes. I have only ever swam with the large size. Most people last year wanted the small size.
Do you still have any of the safe swim devices available to purchase?
Brian, yes we have Safer Swimmers available. See the tab at the top of the page labeled "Safer Swimmer" for information and pricing.
